There have been a number of requests to clarify sending emails in Gabriel. You can send emails in Gabriel from the Family Records, Family Tags, Member Records, Committee Records, and Religious Ed.
Family Records - Will be sent to the Family Email and any of the members within the family who have contact by email and/or receive family email alerts checked off in the member record. Prior to sending any email be sure you reset your search criteria. When you reset in Family search it will reset to Active and the language will set to all. Now when you send your email within the Family Records you will be sure you are sending to Active only + any member who has contact by email and/or receive family email alerts. If you go to a single Family Record (you are only sending an email to one family) it will not grab the email for the members of the family - it will only send to the family email.
Family Tags - If you go to Families > Family Tags. You can check off any Family Tag you wish to send an email to. It can be 1 tag, 5 tags or all of the tags. Sending an email within tags will use the email that is in the family record.
Member Records - If you send from Member Record Search it will only grab members who have emails and the the contact by email and/or receive family email alerts boxes are checked off. Again be sure to reset your search criteria. Member search criteria resets status to all and language to English so be sure to select Active and ALL before sending your email.
Committee Records - If you go to Committee > Committee Maintenance. You can check off any committee you wish to send an email to. It can be 1 committee, 5 committees or all of the committees. Sending an email within committee records will use the email that is in the member's record and the contact by email box is checked off.
Note: Any email sent from Family Records, Family Tags, Member Records, and Committee Records will use the default parish email address found in the general information area of Church Administration as the from email address.
Religious Ed Records - You can also email from the Religious Ed Module. Religious Ed > Class Maintenance > You can choose to email all the classes or you can select specific classes by checking the box. If a religious ed email is specified on the Church Administration tab, it will use that as the from email address when a message is sent from Religious ed. If a religious email address is not specified on Church Administration it will use the default parish email address also found on Church Administration as the from email address.
Note: If the family email is the same as a member email will it only send 1 email not 2.
NOTE: Email Will not send if your Parish has a AOL or Yahoo email address
